A fabric index

I started this weekend to go through my fabric stash to cut swatches, paste them to
Fabric Swatch Notebook Printable (pdf found at Sew Weekly) and fill in the data I needed.
VOILÀ How simple it suddenly became to browse through my fabrics!
VOILÀ I realized how many fabrics I have! I have 63 entries in the catalog and I've excluded the boring fabrics (knits, jersey). Do I need to buy more fabric. No.

Märit's tunic

Not pressed and the pins in the hem are not yet removed. But a damned nice tunic!

Cotton tunic

A tunic in cotton batiste in the making. The pattern is from BurdaStyle 11/12. It has 3/4 sleeves, a slit in the center front and I am omitting the standing collar. It is soooo nice to sew something simple for a change.

Hmm, the side seams need to be adjusted, I think. Or is Berit (the dressform) the one to blame?

RTW Contest

My project for the RTW Contest on patternreview.com was finished on time. What a struggle, mainly with the chiffon! The hem was a challenge and I need a walking foot, indeed. I'm not going to get many votes for this but I feel like a winner since I submitting on time.

Silk dupion and chiffon from Simbra Siden. Pleated lace trim is a vintage find.

Completed dress customized for Wanja. The inspiration dress to the left from thefrock.com.

Projects in 2012

Last year was a big year for me regarding my sewing. I re-started this hobby and raised my skills a couple of levels after many years of only sewing what was necessary, meaning graduation dresses for the girls etc. That is, my creativity and enthusiasm about sewing was low compared to back in the days when I almost  lived for my hobby. What happened last year was that I found Susan Kahlje's couture dress class on Craftsy.com which give me a real kick in the ass (in a positive sense). And I'm surfing the wave.

I'm aiming to show my (completed) projects during 2012 in a future post.
